GIS Course offerings at the University of Oregon

Suggested Course sequences
GIS Courses are offered in a variety of different departments throughout the year at the University of Oregon. Below are 2 suggested class sequences that would provide a student with a strong background in Geographic Information Sciences.

Geography Department: Geog 311 or Geog 412, Geog 4/516, Geog 4/572. In addition to this sequence classes such as Remote Sensing, Cartography and Geographic Data Analysis within the geography department or Urban, Mobile and Social GIS offered in PPPM department could be taken to develop a deeper understanding of the applications of GIS.

PPPM Department: PPPM 4/534, PPPM 4/508, PPPM 4/536, Geog 4/511, Geog 4/572. In this sequence there is flexibility after the first course based on the course load and direction of individual students. In many cases only 1 or 2 of the subsequent 4 courses are taken by a PPPM student, but the entire sequence is ideal for developing a substantial set of skills.
