How to Remotely Access SSIL Data

In the case that you are on campus (or logged into UOnet via VPN or uonet dialup) you can still access your class data without being in SSIL. The following document describes this process. SSIL will not troubleshoot your connection; this document is merely provided as a courtesy. Contact your system administrator for assistance in connecting to shares across the network.

To map your home folder to a computer on UOnet:

  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Click on Tools, then Map Network Drive.

  4. Type "\\CAS3400008\classes\(classname)\homes\(username)" (without the quotes and parenthesis), replacing (username) with your actual username. For example, if your username is ec42025, you would type \\CAS3400008\classes\ec42025\homes\ec42025
  5. Click on the "connect using a different user name" link.
  6. You should see a box similar to the one below:

In the user name field type in "CAS\YOUR_USERNAME" (without the quotes) and then type your password in the password field.
For example: If your username is ec42025, you would type in CAS\ec42025

At this point, you should be able to access your data from the X: drive as you would normally be able to do from ssil.
